Foot Clinic

Click for EnlargeTheptarin Foot Clinic offers comprehensive services, from prevention through education and risk evaluation to treatments and footwear services.

For over 15 years, the Theptarin team has worked on foot care to minimize leg amputation.  Results of this effort have been very satisfactory.  For example, peripheral distal bypass surgery was first performed in Thailand at Theptarin, and using this method, we were able to save over 90% of the legs which would have been amputated elsewhere (data 1993-2003).  We have continuously brought in new technology, e.g., hyperbaric medicine or usage of dermagraft, to speed up wound healing process.

The Theptarin Foot Clinic teams consist of endocrinologists, diabetologists, general surgeons, vascular surgeons, foot care nurses, physical therapists, and pedortists.  We are ready to serve patients from all health care facilities and communicate progress with their primary physicians.

Weight Management Clinic

Healing and Prevention through Education

3 "C"Activities

Class

Theptarin believes that knowledge is the one of the keys to the best diabetes control.  Every month, we offer a diabetes course for patients, their caregivers, and others.  Each course consists of 2 sessions on Saturday mornings.  The first session is on diabetes and self-care, taught by our diabetes educators, followed by a session on diet and exercise, lead by our dietitians and physical therapists.

We recommend all diabetes patients and their families to attend this course.  Patients from other health care facilities are welcomed.

Camp
For the past 12 years, for 4 days and 3 nights each November, we’ve taken our patients and their relatives on an ultimate behavior modification activity, the Theptarin Diabetes Camp.  Here, participants not only acquire classroom knowledge, but also put that knowledge into practice through creative and well-planned activities.  A study of participants’ hemoglobin A1C levels shows that they achieve better glucose control after attending the camp.  However, the effect has not been permanent, indicating behavior modification activities need to be reinforced.

The Theptarin Diabetes Camp received the BUPA Blue Cross Clinical Excellence Award in 2003, and welcomes participants from all health care facilities.

Club

Approximately half of our camp participants are camp alumni.  The “Acquire Knowledge, Fight Diabetes” Club was founded in 1997 by camp alumni who saw the real need to acquire knowledge to take care of themselves.  Club members, with supports from the Theptarin diabetes team, organize activities once every 3-4 months.  All activities are open to members and general public.
